Scales of Pay 1919

Scales of pay 1919 This was included in papers donated by the family of John Meadows with the following letter. Herewith the papers relating to my grandfather John Meadows and passed down through the family. He joined the police service after leaving the cavalry at the end of the First World War. He ended up extending his service at Uley at the end of World War 2. He had a son, Arthur, who joined the Gloucestershire Police and a daughter Iris (my mother) who married a Bristol policeman Colin Forty. He was the grandson of Theodore Forty who's book is also enclosed. I understand that because of John's riding skills he joined the Mounted Section for special events - Cheltenham Races and crowd control as in the Miner's Strike in the Forest of Dean.
