Gloucestershire Constabulary provides mutual aid to other forces.

According to  the National Police Chiefs’ Council mutual aid can be described as the provision of policing assistance from one force to another. It is a formal arrangement and is usually provided in response to or in anticipation of a major incident or event.

On this occasion Gloucestershire officers were sent to Liverpool when Pope John Paul ll visited the United Kingdom.
