Underwater Recovery Section

This group was formed in 1966 and consisted of one sergeant and three constables.  Their role was to search rivers, canals, gravel pits, ponds and any other deep water to recover bodies or stolen property.  By the end of 1976 the section had carried out 265 operations since their formation.  The  officer in charge, Police Sergeant Jefferies, had attended 257 of these.
