A very different lay out to today
Plans that show the developments on the site during the 1800s
We are trying to identify as many police stations and houses as we can from the historic county of Gloucestershire . Can you help?
A postcard and a photograph that were bought on a shopping site were donated to the archives and started a voyage of discovery. We found out that the Charles Coldicott had joined the Constabulary in 1906 and then gone off to fight in World War one returning to rejoin the Police in 1919. His personnel file was found in Stroud Police Station and some of the documents from it appear on this page.
Father and son George Edward and Eric George Jordan were both members of Gloucestershire constabulary and shared the same collar number.
This cartoon has come into the possession of the archives. We know nothing about it but we sure that it means something to someone. If you know the answer please get in touch.
We do not have very much in the archive about our 'Specials,' so it is good when information turns up.
Harry Creed was a member of Gloucestershire Constabulary from 1912 until 1949
